Tomia MacQueen is an Educator (BA) of 20+ years, Farmer and Master Gardener specializing in edible gardens. She is the owner of Wildflower Farm and the founder of Gardening for LIFE. Tomia has been an Edible Gardens Consultant for 17 years, reclaiming and sharing a nearly lost agricultural heritage She is the founder of the Healing Waters Project which provides land access and training to historically underrepresented new and beginning farmers at Wildflower Farm.
Tomia is a Board member of the Northeast Organic Farming Association New Jersey (NOFA-NJ and a member of Governance for the Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance where she is a member of Admin and Seed and Operations working groups as well as the Co-coordinator for the Value-Added Working Group, a teacher in the Ira Wallace Seed School and a member seed grower. She is also a Board member of Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space (FOHVOS) conservation group and a member of the North RC&D Regenerative Farming Network Steering Team.
Tomia partners with local organizations and schools as a featured Farmer/Mentor within youth and young adult programs such as the Outdoor Equity Alliance Agrihood Program and the Princeton University Seed Farm and others. She also served as the pilot Coordinator for the Food Systems Literacy program at Princeton Public Schools, laying transformative framework for the Food Systems Curriculum.
She dedicates herself to imparting healthy habits and positive body image to her food sustainability students, and to closing food security gaps through education both in schools and through other speaking engagements.
With over 386 acres of Virginia land on 'The Promiseland Farm' owned by Tyrell Smith and his wife Ebony, their Mother Valerie Arthur, sister Teela Smith, and nephew Kahmale Smith, they are committed to servicing Trenton, New Jersey with sustainable growth, community partnerships, and other agricultural production. With compassionate service, fair businesses practices, and a commitment to quality, they continue to pursue purpose as the center of what they do.
Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Tyrell Smith is a dedicated social entrepreneur and civic advocate. Inspired by his grandmother’s acts of service—sharing fresh produce from her garden with neighbors—Tyrell witnessed firsthand the power of direct community support. Her legacy instilled in him a lifelong commitment to uplifting black, brown, and urban communities while addressing systemic imbalance. Tyrell’s work focuses on providing access to healthy and sustainable lifestyle choices while championing social equity. Through his initiatives, he empowers individuals and strengthens neighborhoods, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. His dedication to creating lasting change is reinforced by his academic pursuits, including studies in Business Management and certifications in Fundraising and Non-Profit Executive Leadership. With a deep-rooted passion for service, Tyrell continues to build on his grandmother’s legacy—working tirelessly to foster a healthier, more equitable future for Trenton and beyond.
